Strategy overview
We believe the role of fixed income investing is to produce sustainable income while maintaining the stability of principal. Within that framework, the Access Capital Community Investing strategy also seeks to build stronger communities through fixed income investments that offer safety, liquidity and competitive returns. All of the investments in the strategy serve low-and-moderate-income (LMI) individuals or communities across the following themes:
- Affordable home ownership opportunities
- Small businesses providing jobs and valuable services in LMI neighborhoods
- Affordable rental housing for LMI families
- Community development and neighborhood revitalization
- Infrastructure projects
- Healthcare
- Education
Investment process
The Access Capital Community Investing strategy focuses on affordable housing, healthcare, education and job creation benefiting low-to-moderate income individuals and communities. Investors can also choose to target their impact by demographic (for example, supporting Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, or BIPOC, communities). Portfolio construction for our impact strategies is consistent with the philosophy of all of our US fixed income investment strategies, with an added lens to determine alignment with our impact goals or the specific impact goals of our clients. We work with strategic partners to build customized securities that help achieve those goals.
